Philosophy: With an extensive background in the arts and knowledge of the creative personality, I understand the unique qualities and struggles of the artist. I can assist you in learning how to better integrate conflicting traits and emotions, which often lead to self-blame, judgment and procrastination. By learning to embrace all aspects of the creative personality, we move towards self-acceptance and compassion for your self as an artist. I believe a high sensitivity, essential in the creative process, can co-exist in dealing effectively with inner conflicts, without suppressing the vitality that leads to authentic self-expression. I can assist the artist in discovering that they can be both productive and creative within a balanced life. I can help you, not only in identifying your goals, but also uncovering what obstacles are blocking your creative flow.
Methods of Working: Face-to-Face (If you are local) Email Phone
Specializations: I am a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and Creativity Coach. I’ve spent the last eight years counseling creative individuals such as artists, musicians, writers, and actors on issues unique to the creative person. Prior to my career as a psychotherapist, I majored in Graphic Design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Upon graduating, I worked as a graphic designer for over 14 years with clients such as Toyota, Nestle, Kaiser Permanente, Nissan and more. Deciding to return to my first passion, I went back to college and received a Masters of Arts in Psychology. Since then I have integrated my two main passions into my practice -Creativity and Psychology. I continue to express my creativity through painting, writing and visual journaling.
Workshops: “Beyond the Artist Way” Creative block isn’t about being lazy or not having enough talent, but more about a complex dance between exiting and reentering the creative process. Gaining a deeper awareness into your unique internal experience as an artist is the first step towards freeing your creativity. Develop ways to sustain motivation and inspiration. This workshop combines the works of other creativity experts (Anne Paris, Eric Maisel, Steve Pressfield, Robert Fritz and others) and includes exercises that will help you learn valuable new insights, which will deepen your creativity.
