The Newsletter of the Creativity Coaching Association
Welcome to the May issue of Creativity Calling!
Spring is in full bloom now in my corner of the U.S. (Lake George, New York) and what a delight it is! Today I am driving to Rochester to attend the city's "Lilac Festival", which features over 500 varieties of lilacs on 155 acres and boasts 1,200 lilac bushes. Lilacs are my favorite flower so you can imagine how much I'm looking forward to the Festival's festivities.
This month our CCA coaches share fresh and inspiring thoughts to help us embrace newness, creativity and joy in our everyday lives. Nanette encourages us to wipe the slate clean and write ourselves a brand new beginning. Tina invites us to question whether we are honoring and nurturing ourselves and challenges us to take some time to do just that! You'll discover I've included a few of my favorite quotes to help condition and fertilize the soil for the growth of our new seeds (thoughts and ideas). For, truly, before we can fully give our gifts to others, we must give nurturing and joy-filled experiences to ourselves!
Finally, please mark your calendars for 1 PM (ET) June 7, when I'll be interviewing Mary Beall Adler (see more information within this newsletter), for CCA's next "Transformational Tuesdays " live call.
Thank you so much for subscribing to Creativity Calling. We appreciate you! Please continue to write us with your questions and areas of interest for we love your input!
All the best!

Your Voice. Your Choice. Writing Your New Story
By Nanette Saylor
There is nothing more powerful than the activation of your free will; the power of choice.
Using that power, you can choose to consciously create your day as you wish it to be, with your thoughts, your voice and your words. Each day you write a new page in the story of your future.
On your journey you may find you have a past that is no longer serving you. It's time to let go of the "stories" that make up your history and write new ones; literally. Carrying old habits and patterns keeps you stuck. Creating a new story is as simple as changing the way you think, you speak and you write.
Let's get started:
1. Begin with awareness. Open a clear channel to your intuition--your inner wisdom, your true voice that is inside you just waiting to be heard. Allow yourself time to reflect. Ask your inner wisdom questions, and listen for the answers. Keep a journal.
2. Be conscious of your words. Eliminate I can't, It's too hard, I'm not good enough, I'll never be able to, If only...
3. Write your own personal affirmation. Repeat it and rewrite it regularly.
4. Practice defining yourself as who you are in the world, not what you do.
Write at the top of a journal "I am. ____________________" Set a timer for two minutes and write all the positive words that describe you at your best. Re-visit this exercise until you have a statement that feels really good. Use it to lift yourself up.
5. When your old self wants to say "I can't", ask yourself simply "How Can I?". Listen for the answers, write them down, then act on them. First comes awareness, then understanding, then action.
6.Give thanks. Celebrate your many blessings.
7. Practice visualizing your future. Imagine yourself 5 years from now living your very best life.
Write out that vision--with all the details as if you are living it today. This is your new story.
You can create the story of your life...the life of your dreams. You choose. Simply begin today.

Taking Time to Celebrate YOU
By Tina Games
"The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate."
~ Oprah Winfrey
Self-celebration is the ability to honor yourself and your unique gifts. It gives you permission to live your life joyfully.
Gratitude is truly the cornerstone of your personal success. When you are grateful for everything you are and for everything you bring to the world, magic happens.
Have you ever noticed that when you are in a really good mood, nothing can bring you down? The same is true about celebrating and about being grateful.
Take a moment to celebrate YOU. Write an open-hearted love letter to yourself (one that you will actually mail and receive). Select an exquisite piece of stationery (or a beautiful card) and sit in a quiet place where you can connect with your innermost thoughts.
Take a few moments to close your eyes and breathe deeply. As you inhale, think about what it is you love about yourself. What is it that you love about being you?
As you exhale, release any thoughts of criticism or judgment. And continue to do this, until you feel ready to write.
Begin the letter with "Dear (and your name)" and show your gratitude through words of love and appreciation. You may choose to write about your triumphs, your challenges, your shining qualities, your deep desires.
When you're done, decorate your letter with stickers or drawings--anything that feels right to you in the moment and place it in an envelope. Seal it, address it to yourself, put a stamp on it and drop it in a mailbox.
When the letter arrives, find a private place, and read the letter carefully. Allow your feelings to fully flow, connecting to the powerful energy of self-love.
When finished, place the letter (or card) back in its envelope. Anytime you're feeling low, pull it out and reread it. It will always serve as a reminder of how wonderful you truly are.

Five Inspiring Quotes
from Bev Down
Be brave enough to live life creatively. The creative place is where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. You can't get there by bus, only by hard work and risk and by not quite knowing what you are doing. What you will discover will be wonderful. What you will discover will be yourself.
~ Alan Alda
If you want your life to come together, you have to start treating yourself better.
~ Sarah Ban Breathnach
The purpose of life is to give you a chance to be the grandest version of the greatest vision ever you held about Who You Are."
~ Neale Donald Walsch
Creative power and imagination is in everyone and so is the need to express it.
~ Brenda Ueland
Now is the time to take possession of my life, to start the impossible, a journey to the limits of my aspirations, for the first time to step toward my loveliest dream. 'If I had only known what I know now' - but now I know enough to begin.
~ Hugh Prather
